Newsflare member Simon Kindleysides (Simon_K) is delighted with the recognition he has received from UK and global media. Just five days ago Simon uploaded his first ever video to Newsflare “Wheelchair-bound man able to walk again using robotic suit”.
The heart-warming footage shows Simon himself, walking for the first time in two years with the help of a robotic suit. His video has already captured the attention of UK and global media giants; AOL, Yahoo!, BBC News, ITV News, The Daily Mail and UniLad.
On Wednesday 24th June at 10.00am Simon Kindleysides uploaded his video footage that was captured at the PhysioFunction Centre in Northamptonshire. Simon is a suffer of FND (Functional Neurological Disorder), and can be seen using the suit, taking his first few tentative steps in two years. The manufacturer’s website describes the suit as “The world’s first hands-free, self-supporting, independently controlled robotic walking device”,
Writing online about the experience, Simon said “My name is Simon Kindleysides, I’m 31 and from Norfolk. I have been in a wheelchair since April 2013 when I was diagnosed with FND (Functional Neurological Disorder) which basically means I have lost all feeling and movement from the waist down. I was also diagnosed with a benign gloma brain tumour. I haven’t walked in over two years but thanks to PhysioFunction I was able too. I used The Rex robotic suit which enabled me to walk, shuffle, turn and sit. Thanks to them I was able to feel 6ft tall again! It was an amazing experience, one I would recommend to anyone in a wheelchair!”
When asked about how he found working with Newsflare, Simon said: “Professional, get results and keep their word. A great company!” (Ed. Thank you Simon, we have very much enjoyed working with you too).
