The London Mayoral race 2012
The 2012 London mayoral election will be held on Thursday 3rd May 2012 to choose the new Mayor of London.
Although new is a relative term. The front runners are well known –three of them previously stood for the seat in 2008. But the stakes are as high as ever. Borough by borough, house by house, they are knocking on London residents’ doors hoping to win their hearts.
Ken Livingstone -former Mayor of London- and Boris Johnson –present Mayor of London- have been tightening the race in the last few weeks. It seems it will be a close call between the two of them. You can get the latest news from both teams on their campaign pages, here for the Conservatives and Boris and here for the Labour party and Ken.
The third in dispute is the Liberal Democrat Brian Paddick and here is his website. Other candidates include Carlos Cortiglia for the BNP, Jenny Jones for the Greens, Lawrence Webb for UKIP and Siobhan Benita as an independent.
Alternatively, to be up to date from a slightly less biased point of view, you can access the specials on the London Mayoral Election on The Guardian and The Telegraph. All the candidates have their say as well in the official London Elects website. Or you can follow Newsflare on Twitter and Facebook!
